The Big Island's Kona Coast is widely regarded as one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world, offering everything from calm shore dives on pristine reefs to adrenaline-pumping blackwater dives in the open ocean. The island's volcanic geology creates a dramatic underwater landscape of lava tubes, caverns, arches, and steep drop-offs that attract an extraordinary diversity of marine life.

Kona's signature dive experience is the manta ray night dive — a bucket-list encounter where divers kneel on the ocean floor as giant manta rays with wingspans up to 16 feet glide just inches overhead, feeding on plankton attracted by dive lights. Beyond manta rays, the Big Island offers year-round diving with water temperatures between 75-80°F and visibility regularly exceeding 100 feet.
